The Challenge

With 12 campuses throughout Illinois—including two children’s hospitals—Illinois-based Advocate Health Care is a leader in advanced patient care and sustainable healthcare operations.

Advocate prides itself on a well-defined procedural approach to traditional physical environment management. However, as it continued to expand, the organization concluded that a more efficient Environment of Care process was needed and sought out the best available technologies to accomplish this.

In addition to achieving a consistent approach to EOC rounding and corresponding follow-up actions, Advocate envisioned a more collaborative rounding process—one that would engage all participating departments and provide a standard, system-wide approach to EOC.

The Solution

Advocate turned to ATG’s EOC solution to help standardize the organization’s approach at all of its 12 campuses.

The Advocate management team worked directly with our Enterprise Solutions Division to formulate a turnkey strategy, which combines ATG’s cloud-based EOC application with our mobile technologies. This comprehensive solution allows Advocate personnel to record data while conducting inspections, with all corresponding reporting and notifications compiled and synced to the cloud. Additionally, its interface with the organization’s work order system facilitates quick corrective actions when needed.

Using the data mining capabilities of the technology, Advocate management can assess conditions on all campuses and conduct a wide range of performance benchmarking analyses. The solution integrates seamlessly with the organization’s larger-scale facility information system which, among other functions, provides space utilization analysis and as-built layouts of all campuses.

The Results

Now implemented across Advocate campuses, the EOC solution has provided a standardized process, significantly impacting facility inspections and corresponding corrective actions. Communications with maintenance staff have been streamlined and work order processing has improved dramatically. The organization can now make more informed decisions by analyzing data throughout its portfolio, while proactively managing all EOC regulatory compliance.
