The Challenge

Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia is the main campus for Tift Regional Health System, which serves 12 counties in the south central part of the state. It provides a wide range of services, including oncology, cardiology, neurology, surgery, women’s health, and emergency medicine.

To better perform cost center reporting and move management, Tift needed a more efficient system of providing accurate architectural and space utilization information. One of the organization’s must-haves: a better way to manage and submit annual Medicare cost reports.

The Solution

Tift’s directors called on ATG to address their needs. First, a survey of the campus was conducted to create accurate architectural and space utilization information for the hospital. The resulting data was then incorporated into the Space Inventory Analysis component of our cloud-based facility information platform, which yields:

  • More efficient cost center reporting
  • Lower fees for architectural and construction projects
  • More effective space management

Tift’s architectural and space solution now facilitates more efficient and accurate yearly submissions of Medicare cost reports. “The driver behind our facility information management plan was definitely the reporting tasks,” says Don Gay, Tift’s Director of Facility, Engineering and Safety Management.

“However, since the project was completed, we’ve realized far more benefits. Most notably, we’re reducing the costs associated with each renovation, because the architects and other contractors have such easy access to the up-to-date information they need.”

The Results

Tift’s space utilization reports and dynamically-created visual queries have proven to be extremely valuable. The information allows hospital planners to perform better “what if” scenarios and functional needs assessments.
